Both are proven flat roof systems. High performance bitumen torch on is made from layers of reinforced bitumen membrane that are heat bonded to the roof deck and to each other, forming a tough, sealed surface that copes well with weather, temperature changes and foot traffic. EPDM is a single sheet of synthetic rubber, which is lightweight and flexible and suits simple roof shapes.
Torch on is the system we install most, and it suits a wide range of roof shapes and details. EPDM can be a good choice for some roofs. We will explain which suits yours when we visit for your free quotation.
Every flat roofing Reading homeowners book with us starts with a free quotation. We visit your home, look at the size and shape of the roof, talk through your torch on and EPDM options, and give you a clear price. Once you are happy, we agree a start date that suits you.
On the day, we carefully remove the old flat roof covering, prepare the deck, add insulation where needed and install your new high performance bitumen torch on system. Edge trims, outlets and finishing details are completed so the whole roof is neat and watertight.
Flat roofs are common on Reading extensions, garages and dormers, from period terraces close to the town centre to family homes in areas like Earley and Woodley. Each roof is planned around your property, so a small garage roof and a large rear extension are never treated the same way.
We cover Reading, including Earley and Woodley, as well as neighbouring towns. See our flat roofing pages for Wokingham and Bracknell, read more about our flat roofing service, or see our new roof installation in Reading.

Replacing a flat roof usually does not need planning permission, but homes in conservation areas and listed buildings can have extra rules, and some extensions are treated differently. The Planning Portal has official guidance, and we are happy to talk you through what applies to your home.
